Karnivool Perform ‘Alpha Omega’ for Ghost City Sessions

Australian rock pioneers Karnivool recently performed a few tracks as part of the Ghost City Sessions, hosted by Ghost City Recordings. One such track was ‘Alpha Omega’ from the band’s third album, 2013’s genre-busting Asymmetry. The 8-minute track eases the listener in, adding technical layer upon layer of guitars and synthesisers to build an expansive sonic landscape, until the thundering riffs kick in and bring the song to a devastating conclusion (Ian Kenny’s vocals around the six-minute mark are particularly impressive). Those who are unfamiliar with the band and their approach to music may find this track bizarre, even unsettling, but I genuinely implore you to make the time to sit down and listen to this track (with some good headphones if you have them). Enjoy the ride:

If you want to see any more of the Ghost City Sessions, you can watch those here. Furthermore, if you liked the track above and want to hear more, I wrote an ‘Introducing…’ piece on Karnivool a little while back – you can have a read of that here. The band are heading out on a European tour in March 2015 and are bringing their full Australian show with them – given that the band will also be playing some new tracks from their follow up to Asymmetry, which is currently being recorded,  it’s going to be an incredibly impressive tour!
